Cielito Lindo

It's not every day, that our elected representatives take an opportunity to completely sell the American citizen and permanent resident down the river, but they sure did today.

This new immigration bill proposal, in effect granting amnesty to illegal aliens, is nothing more than a victory for Mexico. My favorite country del sur can send their unskilled, uneducated populace to its benevolent neighbor del norte, and make them deal with the ramifications of absorbing them.

Why doesn't anyone stop to consider Mexico, and its failure to fully develop into a first world country? What about rights of Americans while in Mexico? Mexicans in the US illegally, have more rights and legal recourse than Americans (or other extranjeros) in Mexico legally. Is there an MCLU championing the cause of the poor, oppressed immigrants, legal or otherwise in Mexico? No, any trouble and it's more like incarceration without due process and right to representation. Well, a bribe can get one out of a scrap with the law.

Let's look at some numbers. In America, the averages for economic status is 10% below the poverty line, 80% in the middle class, and 10% "rich". Now, that's based off my memory, so if I'm off, let me know, but it won't be off much.

Mexico, land of the feathered winged-serpent, is more like 70% poor, 20% middle class, and 10% are serious elite, hacienda-owning types. To face the daunting task of improving the numbers, the easiest thing to is to reduce the population in the least desirable group. Great, so their economic failure is now our problem.

Here's what we should do. Create an immigration law with the following provisions*:

1. Anyone caught here illegally goes straight to prison.
2. Legal resident aliens are not allowed to protest against the government, nor wave foreign flags in protest.

If you immigrate to the United States of America:

3. You must speak the native language.
4. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers.
5. There will be no special bilingual programs in the schools, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your native language.
6. Foreigners will not have the right to vote
7. You cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled, ever, to welfare, to food stamps, or other government benefits.
8. You can come if you invest here, but it must be an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage.
9. You will not be allowed to buy waterfront property in the United States. That will be reserved for citizens naturally born in this country.

Pretty harsh eh? Those are the immigration laws of Mexico.
